Calamity Jane by Limelight Scripts is a new pantomime, but it includes the usual ingredients of English pantomime, so will not disappoint traditionalists!. The exciting setting is the American Wild West of cowboys/’palefaces’; and Native American Indians/’injuns’!
This panto tells the story of ‘aunt’ Calamity Jane, (sadly not Doris Day!), but the traditional Dame! While visiting her hapless nephew, the Milky Bar Kid, out in the Wild West, she experiences a number of mishaps and adventures. This script pokes fun at the old-fashioned Western with a supporting cast which includes a cowardly Sheriff; an inept female outlaw duo; Mexican bandits with attitude; an ‘Injun Chief’ who loves ‘paleface’ takeaways; and an Old Timer who ‘spits’ constantly! And for the first time ever, we have a panto horse on stage, as well as a Grizzly Bear!.
There are plenty of opportunities for kids to participate, and shout out the immortal line ‘look behind you’!!
As part of our publicity, we will repeat the ‘Best Poster Competition’ giving every class at Bathford Primary a chance to enter. We will award a free child ticket for the winner in each class.
